Video: Los Angeles Rapper And Activist Tish Hyman Confronts Senator Scott Wiener On Transgender Locker Room Access

On November 11, 2025, Tish Hyman, a Black lesbian activist from Los Angeles, challenged California State Senator Scott Wiener at a San Francisco public forum over protections for biological women in single-sex spaces under the state’s self-identification laws.

Hyman, previously banned from a Gold’s Gym after confronting a biological male in the women’s locker room, questioned Wiener on prioritizing women’s safety, to which he replied that trans women are women, prompting boos from the audience and her departure.

HYMAN: Are you going to protect WOMEN?! NOT trans women. WOMEN’S safety! THEY ARE MEN.

CROWD: They are women!!

HYMAN: Men are HARASSING women in the locker rooms! I’m done.

WIENER: We should protect the safety of all women. But trans women are also brutalized.

HYMAN: We CANNOT be R*PED in the bathroom by men who say they are women! I’m LEAVING. You guys are NOT protecting women.

The exchange, captured on underscores ongoing tensions in California regarding transgender access to gender-segregated facilities amid Wiener’s legislative advocacy for LGBTQ+ rights.

Hyman in a post regarding the meeting had wrote: “Had a chance to have a conversation with Senator Weiner. It was an honest one. I am hopeful that this is the first of many conversations we will have regarding women’s safety .

“Senator Weiner said he likes working with fresh young people and that he is open to ideas.

“And I’ve got plenty Scott! ❤️”
