While she affirmed that: “We are not leaving and we will not stop fighting for a country that welcomes all of us.”

Recall president Trump had on Wednesday lashed verbal attacks on Minnesota’s Somali community, during a tirade while discussing alleged fraud in Minnesota’s social services systems, he called immigrants from Somalia “garbage” and said “they’ve destroyed our country.”

He also talked about deporting Omar, who represents the largest Somali American population in the U.S.

Omar, who immigrated to the U.S. at age 12 and is now a U.S. citizen, called Trump’s rant “vile” and said it was no surprise because he has “trafficked in racism, in xenophobia, in bigotry, in Islamophobia for as long as he has held office.”

Ibrahim entered the U.S. illegally in 2000. He got a deportation order in 2004 and served time in Canada for asylum and welfare fraud. According to ICE he was not allowed to have Temporary Protected Status (TPS)
