“Call Of Duty” Video Game Creator Vincent Zampella Dies At 55 In Fiery Crash

Vince Zampella lost control of his Ferrari as it exited a tunnel, crashed into a barrier, and the car burst into flames in Angeles Crest Highway.

The California Highway Patrol reported the incident Sunday around 12:45 p.m., when Zampella’s red 2026 Ferrari 296 GTS veered off the road after a tunnel, hit a concrete barrier.

He was trapped inside and pronounced dead at the scene, while an unidentified passenger was ejected and later died at a hospital.

Zampella co-founded Infinity Ward, launched the blockbuster Call of Duty series, and later built Respawn Entertainment, creating hits like Apex Legends and Star Wars Jedi games.

He leaves behind three children ages 19 to 26.
