Four injured as hoodlums attack KAI officials.. . Government arrests supervisor

Four officials of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) popularly known as Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) were on Wednesday, injured following an attack by some hoodlums on the Victoria Island area of the State .

The incident occurred at 134, Sinari Daranijo Street, when the personnel embarked on a joint enforcement to Yakoyo Abula Restaurants.

The enforcement was in conjunction with the Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO) and the personnel were on their lawful duty when suddenly the hoodlums launched an attack.

The restaurant supervisor was arrested on the spot as investigations continue.

Lagos State Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, confirmed the incident on his X Handle formerly known as Twitter.

“In a follow up joint enforcement operation carried out today 10th December, 2025 by the Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO) and Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) also known as KAI, to enforce environmental standards on the indiscriminate discharge of untreated wastewater, fats and oil into the environment, hoodlums from the Yakoyo Abula Restaurants Victoria Island at 134, Sinari Daranijo Street Victoria Island, attacked KAI Officers and injured four (4) in the course of the operation.

The Yakoyo restaurant not only broke the government’s seal, they went further to unleash armed thugs on officials who were lawfully carrying out their duties. This crosses every line.

“Let it be clear: Any individual or business that assaults, obstructs, or threatens government officers on duty will face decisive action. Such premises will be sealed without hesitation, and those responsible will be prosecuted.

“We will not allow lawlessness to take root in Lagos. No one is above the law, and any attempt to intimidate government officials will be met with firm and immediate consequences.

The Supervisor of the restaurant was arrested, the facility sealed until further notice while further arrests are to be made to fish out the perpetrators of this unlawful act.
