Nasarawa State Governor, His Excellency, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, on Friday performed the official flag-off of the construction of a 2.6-kilometre twin flyover along the Nyanya–Mararaba–Karu–Keffi Expressway, a major gateway linking the Federal Capital Territory to Nasarawa State.
The ₦39 billion project, situated at Mararaba in Karu Local Government Area, is designed to drastically reduce traffic congestion along the heavily populated corridor. The Governor noted that the project will help address the long-standing challenges of gridlock, lost man-hours, economic strain, and security concerns experienced daily by commuters.
To demonstrate government’s commitment to timely completion, Governor Sule disclosed that ₦19 billion has already been paid upfront to the contractor handling the project. The flyover is expected to be completed within 18 months.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Governor reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to infrastructural development that directly impacts citizens’ quality of life. He emphasized that the flyover will not only ease movement but also boost economic activities and enhance safety across the axis.
The event attracted government officials, community leaders, stakeholders, and residents who described the project as both timely and transformative for the state.
