Newcastle United booked their place in the Carabao Cup semi-finals thanks to a stoppage-time winner against Fulham at St. James’ Park.
Yoane Wissa put Newcastle ahead in the 10th minute, marking his first goal for the club. However, Fulham responded swiftly as Sasa Lukic equalised just six minutes later, setting up a tense contest. The deadlock remained until the final moments, when Lewis Miley rose highest to head home a dramatic winner in stoppage time, sending the home fans into ecstasy.
The defeat will be a blow for Fulham manager Marco Silva, who had hoped to guide his side deeper into the competition. Silva’s team were also missing key players Samuel Chukwueze, Alex Iwobi, and Calvin Bassey, who are away representing Nigeria at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Newcastle now advance to the semi-finals, keeping their hopes of lifting the trophy alive.
