Otunba (Dr.) Adekunle Ojora, a respected prince of Lagos and a towering figure in the state’s royal and social circles, has passed away at the age of 93.
The elder statesman, who was the father of Mrs. Toyin Saraki, wife of former Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, reportedly died peacefully in Lagos on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, after a brief illness.
Born in 1932, Otunba Ojora was drawn from the revered Ojora and Adele Royal families—ancient lineages historically eligible to ascend the throne of the Oba of Lagos. His passing has cast a deep hush over Lagos high society and traditional institutions, marking the end of an era.
Throughout his lifetime, Otunba Ojora was widely regarded as a bridge between the old-world aristocracy of Lagos and the modern corridors of power. He was known for his quiet nobility, refined elegance and commanding presence, earning admiration and respect across generations.
Beyond his royal heritage, he distinguished himself in the corporate and social spheres, where he was described as a measured, insightful and influential figure in the boardroom, mentoring many and shaping key decisions over several decades.
He was married to Erelu Ojuolape Ojora, with whom he raised a family deeply rooted in values, service and distinction. Otunba Ojora is survived by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, leaving behind a rich human and cultural legacy.
His death marks not only the passing of a fulfilled life but also the gentle closing of a significant chapter in Lagos’ royal and social history.
