Minister of Works, Engr. Dave Umahi, officially commissioned the Third Mainland Bridge CCTV Monitoring Centre in Lagos on behalf of President Bola Tinubu on Sunday, advancing the facility boosts security and traffic management on one of Nigeria’s busiest and most critical bridges.
Key highlights of the new setup include:
- dedicated surveillance boat for monitoring the waterways below
- 40 solar-powered panels for sustainable, reliable energy
- Extra gunboats and Hilux patrol vehicles to enhance security along the bridge corridor and underwater activities
The centre is part of broader efforts to provide 24/7 surveillance, curb speeding, prevent incidents (like past concerns over illegal activities or safety risks), and improve overall safety for millions of daily users.
