Nigeria Rises to 26th in Latest FIFA World Rankings

Nigeria has recorded a significant rise in the latest FIFA World Rankings, climbing 12 places from 38th to 26th. The upward movement comes on the back of the Super Eagles’ impressive performance at the 2025 AFCON where they finished with the bronze medal. During the tournament, Nigeria scored 14 goals and remained unbeaten in regulation time, with their only defeat coming via penalties in the semifinal against Morocco.

This latest ranking places Nigeria as the third-highest ranked team in Africa. In the African standings, Morocco lead the continent in 8th place globally, followed by Senegal in 12th, while Nigeria occupy 26th. They are followed by Algeria (28th), Egypt (31st), Ivory Coast (37th), Cameroon (45th), Tunisia (47th), DR Congo (48th), and Mali (54th) to complete Africa’s top ten.

Morocco remain the only African nation inside the world’s top ten, currently ranked eighth globally, while Senegal sit just outside the top ten in 12th place. The current top  ten FIFA rankings are occupied by Argentina, France, England, Brazil, Portugal,  Netherlands, Morocco, Belgium, and Germany.
