Recep Tayyip Erdoğan: “I was greatly pleased to host in Ankara His Excellency President Tinubu of Nigeria, who is making his first official visit to our country, together with his valuable delegation.
“Beyond being a friendly country to us, Nigeria—with its population of 230 million—is one of our closest trade partners in Sub-Saharan Africa.
“Today we thoroughly discussed our relations in the fields of trade, investments, energy, education and defence industry with His Excellency the President and his esteemed delegation.
“We took decisions that will carry much further forward the framework of cooperation we outlined during my visit to Nigeria in October 2021.
“We reaffirmed our commitment to the target of 5 billion dollars in trade volume and evaluated the steps that need to be taken.
“Under the leadership of His Excellency Tinubu, we stand by the friendly Nigerian people in their fight against terrorism.
“Indeed, today we also discussed opportunities for closer cooperation in the areas of military training and intelligence.
“Cooperation in the field of education took its place as an important agenda item in the talks.
“With the education cooperation agreement we signed today, we will further strengthen the contractual foundation of our partnership.”
