Brentford have confirmed that striker Igor Thiago has signed a new long-term contract keeping him at the club until June 2031, with improved terms following his outstanding performances this season.
Thiago officially joined Brentford on July 1, 2024, after the club agreed a record £30 million transfer fee with Club Brugge KV in February 2024. The Brazilian forward arrived with high expectations, but his debut season in 2024–25 was disrupted by a meniscus injury sustained during pre-season preparations.
The setback significantly limited his involvement, restricting him to just eight appearances across all competitions without finding the net. Despite the challenging start to his Brentford career, the 24-year-old has responded emphatically this season.
In 2025–26, Thiago has delivered an inspiring comeback, scoring 18 goals in all competitions to date and re-establishing himself as a key figure in Brentford’s attack. In January 2026, he also set a new milestone by recording the most goals scored by a Brazilian player in a single Premier League season.
