Olena Zelenska: “Today is International School Meals Day. For Ukraine, this topic holds special significance. For five years, we have been implementing the reform, and four of those years coincided with the full-scale Russian invasion.

“Yet already now, 2 million Ukrainian schoolchildren receive free and nutritious lunches, and starting September 1, that number will be 3 million. But the reform is not just about updated kitchens or menus. It is about the culture of nutrition.

“That is why the reform team has prepared a guide for communities and schools with practical ideas on how to talk with children and parents about healthy eating habits.

“2026 should become a year of active communication. Because children’s health begins with the joint efforts of the school, family, and community.”
