Joan Laporta has been re-elected president of FC Barcelona after securing a commanding 68.2 percent of the vote in the club’s presidential election.
His closest challenger, Víctor Font, finished second with 29.8 percent of the votes, as Laporta comfortably retained the presidency.
Following the victory, Laporta booked an exclusive restaurant in the city where he celebrated with members of his campaign team. The celebrations also included figures from the club’s sporting department as well as several members of the first-team squad.
Sources indicate that key personalities within the dressing room played an important role in supporting Laporta during the election process. Among the most influential were head coach Hansi Flick, winger Raphinha and midfielder Dani Olmo.
The trio reportedly encouraged members of the squad who were eligible to participate in the vote to do so, while also backing Laporta’s continuity as president.
Flick’s situation at the club was also closely linked to the election outcome. Sources suggest the German coach’s future at Barcelona depended largely on Laporta remaining in charge, with the manager believed to have considered resigning at the end of the season if there had been a change in the presidency.
Meanwhile, Raphinha is understood to share a strong relationship with Laporta. The Barcelona president has consistently backed the Brazilian winger and previously resisted pressure from former head coach Xavi Hernández to sell the player during his time in charge.
Laporta’s victory now ensures continuity in Barcelona’s leadership as the club continues to build its sporting project for the coming seasons.
