Walid Regragui is no longer the head coach of the Morocco national football team after the federation officially announced his departure. He has been replaced by Mohamed Ouahbi.
Regragui leaves the role after a historic spell in charge of Morocco. Under his leadership, the national team reached the semi finals of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, becoming the first African and Arab nation in history to achieve that milestone. His tenure also saw Morocco reach their first Africa Cup of Nations final since 2004 and become the first African team to secure qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Following his departure, Regragui is now looking to begin a new chapter in club football. According to Santi Aouna, the Moroccan coach hopes to take charge of a European club, with initial contacts already made with teams in Spain and England.
Despite interest from the Middle East in recent years, Saudi Arabia and Qatar are not currently considered options for the 50 year old manager.
