Bayern Munich rewrite history, Stuns Real Madrid 2-1 at Bernabéu After 25 Years

Bayern Munich grabbed a huge 2-1 win over Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-final first leg at the Santiago Bernabéu—their first full 90-minute victory there in 25 years.

Luis Díaz scored late in the first half, Harry Kane added a sharp finish early in the second on his injury return, and Kylian Mbappé pulled one back but couldn’t mount a comeback.

Kane in a post-match twit on X wrote: “Huge away win last night! Half time in the tie so will need a big push again next week! 💪”

Goalkeeper Manuel Neuer earned Player of the Match with nine saves, his most in five seasons, he wrote: “I’m having fun with the team, at the club, with the coaching staff”. It’s true that I’m 40, but I’m still here”.

The club manager Vincent Kompany not allowing the victory get into his head, though celebrated but warned the tie isn’t over ahead of the second leg in Munich.

In his words: “Everyone in the dressing room was very, very calm. We won, but we need to win again to advance”
