Max Eberl has indicated that Manuel Neuer could be offered a contract extension at Bayern Munich, with formal discussions expected to take place in April.
Eberl made it clear that while the club is open to continuing the relationship, the final decision will rest with the veteran goalkeeper, whose physical condition and personal desire to continue will be key factors.
“If Manu is up for it and feels good and our expectations of each other align, I can well imagine an extension,” Eberl told TZ.
Neuer is currently in his 15th season with Bayern Munich, having joined the club from Schalke 04 on July 1, 2011. Now 40 years old, he has made more than 547 appearances for the club and recorded over 258 clean sheets, further solidifying his status as one of the greatest goalkeepers in football history.
During his time at Bayern, Neuer has won an extraordinary 31 trophies. His honours include 12 Bundesliga titles spanning from the 2012-13 season to 2022-23 and again in 2024-25. On the European stage, he has lifted the UEFA Champions League twice in 2012-13 and 2019-20.
Domestically, Neuer has also secured five DFB-Pokal titles in the 2012-13, 2013-14, 2015-16, 2018-19, and 2019-20 seasons, along with eight DFL-Supercup victories in 2012, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2025. His success extends internationally with two UEFA Super Cup wins in 2013 and 2020, as well as two FIFA Club World Cup titles in 2013 and 2020.
Neuer also holds the distinction of being the oldest player to appear for Bayern Munich in a UEFA Champions League match, highlighting his longevity and enduring importance to the club.
