West Ham File Complaint to FIFA Over Aaron Wan-Bissaka Absence

West Ham United have reportedly submitted a complaint to FIFA after alleging that DR Congo did not properly sanction Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s release to return to his club.

According to The Athletic Football, the 27-year-old right-back missed West Ham’s FA Cup quarter-final clash against Leeds United, which ended in a penalty shootout defeat on Sunday.

Wan-Bissaka had been on international duty, helping DR Congo qualify for the FIFA World Cup for the first time since 1974 after defeating Jamaica in the intercontinental playoff final in Mexico City.

Following the victory, the team returned to Kinshasa and celebrated with President Felix Tshisekedi.

Reports indicate that West Ham did not grant Wan-Bissaka permission to remain in DR Congo for the celebrations. The club had scheduled a return flight to London for the defender, but he did not board as planned.
