Achraf Hakimi sustained a hamstring tear during the UEFA Champions League semi-final first leg on April 29 against FC Bayern Munich in a high-intensity moment of defensive transition.
The injury occurred in a fast-break phase of the match, when PSG were forced to sprint back under pressure. Hakimi, known for his explosive acceleration and recovery runs, was tracking a Bayern attack when he suddenly stretched into a full-speed sprint to close down space on the right flank.
During that high-speed effort, he appeared to overextend his stride while attempting to match a rapid attacking run. Immediately after the sprint, he pulled up sharply and was seen clutching the back of his right thigh a classic sign of a hamstring injury. He visibly slowed down, indicating discomfort, before signaling to the bench that he could not continue.
Medical staff quickly assessed him on the pitch before he was substituted, with early signs pointing to a muscle injury in the posterior thigh. Subsequent examinations confirmed a hamstring tear, ruling him out of the second leg of the tie next week.
The incident is understood to have occurred in a non-contact situation, which is common in hamstring injuries, particularly during explosive sprints, sudden acceleration, or overstretching while decelerating under pressure.
His absence is a major blow for Paris Saint-Germain, given his role in both defensive transitions and attacking width.
