Atletico Madrid are pushing strongly to sign Bernardo Silva, with talks accelerating over a possible free-transfer move this summer.
Discussions took place within the last 24 hours between Atlético and the player’s agent, Jorge Mendes, as the Spanish club look to move quickly in negotiations.
Atlético are prepared to offer Bernardo Silva a contract until June 2028, with the option of an additional year until 2029. The proposed deal would reportedly see the Portuguese midfielder earn around €12 million per season.
The La Liga side view Silva as a short-term replacement for Antoine Griezmann and believe his experience and creativity would fit perfectly into Diego Simeone’s squad.
No agreement has been reached at this stage, but Bernardo Silva is understood to be highly interested in the possibility of playing in Spain. Although his long-term dream remains a move to FC Barcelona, he is said to be open to joining Atlético Madrid.
Jorge Mendes is expected to discuss Atlético’s proposal with the player in the coming days before a final decision is made alongside his family.
The Portuguese midfielder has also attracted interest from Juventus FC, Inter Milan, clubs in Turkey and Saudi Arabia, as well as teams in Major League Soccer.
Despite interest from the United States, Silva’s priority is believed to be staying in European football.
