Barcelona Discuss Lautaro Martínez Move Amid Search for New Striker

Lautaro Martínez’s name has been discussed internally at FC Barcelona in recent days following proposals from members of the club’s sporting department.

Certain figures within Barcelona’s sporting structure are understood to have suggested a move for the Argentine striker as the club continues its search for a new forward ahead of the summer transfer window.

However, as things stand, sporting director Deco is not keen on the move. The deal is considered highly unfeasible, with Lautaro Martínez reportedly happy at Inter and the Italian club determined to keep him.

The Argentine forward remains under contract with Inter until June 2029, and the Serie A side would reportedly demand a minimum package between €140 million and €150 million to even consider a sale.

At the moment, a move is not considered realistic for Barcelona.

Barcelona currently have João Pedro and Julián Álvarez as the top two names on their shortlist for a new striker, while the club also continues to explore other options in the market.

Lautaro Martínez previously came close to joining Barcelona in the summer of 2020 in a proposed €70 million deal plus Nelson Semedo. However, the move eventually collapsed due to the financial impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
