FC Barcelona have held exploratory talks with representatives of João Pedro as they assess potential attacking reinforcements ahead of the next transfer window.
Sources suggest the Brazilian forward, who plays for Chelsea FC, is being considered as an alternative option should Barcelona fail to secure their primary target, Julián Álvarez.
Barcelona’s sporting director Deco has reportedly been involved in discussions with the player’s representatives in recent days as the club evaluates its forward options. The situation is also linked to uncertainty surrounding the future of veteran striker Robert Lewandowski.
It is understood Barcelona could be prepared to structure a deal worth in the region of €100m, potentially including add-ons and instalments, although no formal bid has been submitted.
João Pedro is believed to be open to a move to the Camp Nou, but any transfer would depend on an agreement being reached between the two clubs.
Chelsea, however, are currently not open to negotiations. The club view João Pedro as an important part of their long-term plans following a strong first season and are not actively considering offers at this stage.
Talks remain at an early and exploratory level, with no formal negotiations underway.
