Jogyesa Temple in Seoul, South Korea welcomed a very special new monk — a humanoid robot named Gabi.

Dressed in traditional robes and prayer beads, it completed the world’s first robot monk ordination ceremony!

Standing 1.3 meters tall, Gabi was developed by China’s Unitree Robotics. Equipped with AI dialogue capabilities, it can chant sutras, perform prostrations, and interact warmly with devotees.
