Arne Slot Departs Liverpool; Club Begins Search for Successor

Liverpool Football Club has confirmed that head coach Arne Slot will leave his role with immediate effect following an end-of-season review. The club has already begun the process of appointing a new manager ahead of the upcoming season.

Slot joined Liverpool in June 2024 and quickly made a strong impact, guiding the club to its 20th league title in the 2024–25 season. His first campaign also included a Carabao Cup final appearance and progression to the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League.

In the following 2025–26 season, he led the team to Champions League qualification for a second consecutive year and reached the quarter-finals of the competition. His achievements earned him recognition as LMA Manager of the Year during his time in charge.

Liverpool’s ownership stated that the decision was made after careful consideration, emphasizing that while Slot’s contribution was highly valued, a change in direction was deemed necessary to support the club’s long-term progress. The club also praised his leadership, professionalism, and the manner in which he guided the team through challenging periods during his tenure.

Slot, in his farewell remarks, expressed gratitude for his time at the club and highlighted the success achieved during his spell at Anfield, including winning the Premier League title.

Following his departure, early reports suggest that Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola has emerged as the leading candidate to replace him, with Liverpool’s recruitment process now underway.

Liverpool are expected to move quickly to secure a new head coach as soon as possible
