Sport Story: Russian 19-Year-Old Tennis Prodigy Andreeva Champion’s Selfie Photo At The Roland-Garros After Claiming First Grand Slam

Mirra Andreeva is a Russian professional tennis player who made international headlines as a teenage prodigy.

At 19 years old, she won the 2026 French Open, becoming the youngest women’s Grand Slam champion in singles since Monica Seles in 1992.

Right-handed Andreeva is primarily known for her composure, outstanding court sense, and baseline stability.

She Solidified her status as the sport’s brightest young star by defeating Maja Chwalinska to secure her first major singles title.

“You’re so young and talented. It’s so annoying,” Chwalinska told Andreeva during the awards ceremony.

During the trophy presentation, Andreeva took the unusual step of thanking herself “for believing in myself, always giving my 100 percent, even when it’s tough, trying every day to be better as a person and as a player, believing that I can do this, fighting so many demons inside of me.

“Only I know how tough it was for me,” Andreeva added. “How nervous I was throughout these two weeks.”
