U.S. And Iran Agree On 60-Day Deal Roadmap At Swiss Summit, Pakistan P.M Shehbaz Sharif Affirm “The Discussions Yielded Encouraging Progress”

High-level U.S.-Iran negotiations wrapped up their first round early Monday at the Lake Lucerne Summit, hosted by Switzerland with Qatar and Pakistan mediating.

The sides announced a 60-day roadmap building on the June 17 Islamabad Memorandum, including a ceasefire in Lebanon, reopening the Strait of Hormuz, sanctions relief for oil exports, and nuclear working groups.

Key steps involve an oversight committee, de-confliction mechanisms, and a direct hotline, with U.S. officials led by Vance, Jared Kushner, and Steve Witkoff, and Iran by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.

Mediators from Qatar and Pakistan hailed the constructive atmosphere amid a tight timeline to reshape Middle East dynamics.

Shehbaz Sharif in a post wrote: “The discussions were held in a positive and constructive atmosphere and yielded encouraging progress, including agreement on a roadmap toward a final deal within 60 days, the establishment of a High-Level Committee to provide political oversight, and the commencement of further technical talks.

“I commend the leadership of both the United States as well as Iran for their continued commitment to constructive engagement, and thank all brotherly and friendly countries for their valuable support in advancing this historic process.
