As Bauchi State stands at a critical crossroads facing poverty, insecurity, unemployment, and decades of underdevelopment, one thing has become clear: the people are yearning for leadership that is compassionate, competent, and credible. A leader who understands the challenges and has the experience to deliver real change.
That leader is Mallam Musa Umar Yashi .
For over 40 years, Mal. Yashi has dedicated his life to public service, rising through the ranks with honesty, humility and hard work. His journey began in 1984 in the Bauchi State Civil Service, where he quickly distinguished himself and earned the admiration of both colleagues and leaders across the country.
From Lagos to Abuja, from state assignments to federal responsibilities including his current role as Executive Director of Humanitarian Affairs at the North-East Development Commission (NEDC) Mal. Yashi has proven that leadership is not about titles but about impact.
In his role at NEDC, Mal. Yashi has been instrumental in tackling one of Nigeria’s greatest humanitarian crises: the displacement of millions due to insurgency. Through strategic planning, partnerships and tireless work, he helped resettle displaced families, rebuild broken communities and provide livelihoods to those most in need.
This achievement earned him the 2022 Presidential Award for Best Humanitarian Personality of the Year, a recognition of his rare leadership and deep compassion for the people.
He is that Silent Achiever Bauchi Needs
As the state looks toward 2027, Bauchi must choose a leader who is tested, trusted, and ready to lead from day one.
Mal. Musa Umar Yashi is the leader .
He is not a stranger to leadership or governance. He has served in the Presidency, Federal Ministries, the FCT Administration and numerous critical national assignments. He has worked under both military and civilian governments and never once failed in delivering on his mandate.
“Yashi na Kowa”; A Leader for All
In a time when unity is more important than ever, Mal. Yashi stands out as a bridge-builder. He is respected across ethnic, religious, and political lines. Known for his kindness, fairness, and justice, he has earned the nickname “Yashi na kowa, ‘Yashi for everyone’.
Whether you are young or old, Christian or Muslim, farmer or trader, Mal. Yashi has always stood by the people. In the face of hardship, he is there with palliatives and support not just during election season, but consistently and quietly.
He is the people’s leader, the caretaker of the masses, even when no one is watching.
Mal Yashi according to one of his long time allies, Abdulkarim Muhammad Abdullahi, “he is that thorough bred Nigerian whose entire life is characterised by kindness, humility, generosity and desire to change people’s conditions for the better”
Why 2027 Must Be Different
Bauchi cannot afford to repeat the mistakes of the past. It needs a governor who:
Understands governance from the inside out
Has a clear vision for sustainable development
Has connections at the federal level to bring resources home
Will fight poverty, unemployment, and insecurity with strategy, not politics
Will run an inclusive, transparent and people-driven government
He is not coming to play politics. He is coming to serve, to lead and to deliver a new dawn for Bauchi State.
The Time Is Now. We must rally behind a leader who has walked with us, fought for us and is ready to take us forward.
Let’s unite behind Mal. Musa Umar Yashi, a man of character, competence and compassion. Let’s give Bauchi the leadership it deserves.
