Arne Slot Praises Liverpool’s Resilience After Champions League Win Over Real Madrid

Liverpool secured a statement 1-0 victory over Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League, with Alexis Mac Allister scoring the decisive goal of the night.

After the match, Liverpool manager Arne Slot praised his team’s performance and resilience against a top opponent.

“Impressive because we played against an incredible side a team that’s on an unbelievable run of form, only lost once, and won all their other games. If you can win against them and perform the way we did, that’s very positive,” Slot said.

He added, “You know how special it is to play against a team that has won the Champions League so many times. They were a pain in the arse for Liverpool for many years too.”

Slot also highlighted the team’s spirit amid a demanding schedule, saying, “It’s been tricky weeks for us many away games and hardly any rest. It helps when you can play in front of these fans and against a side like Real Madrid because it brings the best out of my players and our supporters.”

Reflecting on his early days at the club, Slot said, “When you start at a new club, you want to implement your playing style as quickly as possible. We are only five games in, and while we’re happy with where we are, we’re not getting carried away.”

Liverpool will now turn their attention to their next Champions League fixture, a high-profile clash against Manchester City.
