Liverpool secured a statement 1-0 victory over Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League, with Alexis Mac Allister scoring the decisive goal of the night.
After the match, Liverpool manager Arne Slot praised his team’s performance and resilience against a top opponent.
“Impressive because we played against an incredible side a team that’s on an unbelievable run of form, only lost once, and won all their other games. If you can win against them and perform the way we did, that’s very positive,” Slot said.
He added, “You know how special it is to play against a team that has won the Champions League so many times. They were a pain in the arse for Liverpool for many years too.”
Slot also highlighted the team’s spirit amid a demanding schedule, saying, “It’s been tricky weeks for us many away games and hardly any rest. It helps when you can play in front of these fans and against a side like Real Madrid because it brings the best out of my players and our supporters.”
