Portugal secured their sixth consecutive World Cup appearance with a dominant 9-1 victory over Armenia in Yerevan on Sunday, hat-trick led by Manchester United maestro Bruno Fernandes and PSG midfielder João Neves, in the absence of injured captain Cristiano Ronaldo.
This is Portugal’s largest margin of victory since they beat Luxembourg 9-0 in 2023. Due to an accumulation of yellow cards, Ronaldo wasn’t around for that one either
The country’s nine goals victory against Armenia underscored the team’s attacking depth under coach Roberto Martinez.
