Chris Eubanks Announces Retirement from Professional Tennis at Age 29

American tennis star Chris Eubanks has officially announced his retirement from professional tennis, closing the curtain on a career that blossomed from humble beginnings on the Southside of Atlanta to global acclaim on some of the sport’s biggest stages.

Eubanks made his tour-level debut in 2015 at the ATP 250 event in Atlanta and secured his first tour-level victory at the same tournament in 2017. His breakout year came in 2023 when he surged to the quarterfinals of the ATP Masters 1000 event in Miami, followed by a stunning run to the Wimbledon quarterfinals. That same season, he also claimed his only ATP Tour title on grass in Mallorca.

Announcing his retirement on X, Eubanks shared a heartfelt message reflecting on his journey and achievements.

He wrote:“If you had told this little boy from the Southside of Atlanta that he would have accomplished all that he did, he would not believe you. Two Time ACC Player of the Year? Yeah right. Wimbledon Quarter finalist? No chance. An Olympian? Unfathomable.

“I was given opportunity to travel around the world and form incredible relationships all while fulfilling a lifelong dream of playing professional tennis. I cannot put into words how blessed I have been. Is this absolutely the end? Tough to say for certain but if it is, WHOOPTY DOO. It has been an incredible ride.”

Eubanks retires at the age of 29, having won 44 career matches and earned admiration throughout the tennis world for his perseverance, sportsmanship, and uplifting personality.
