Super Falcons Named CAF Women’s National Team Of The Year

The Nigerian women’s national team has been crowned CAF Women’s National Team of the Year at the 2025 CAF Awards, a recognition widely seen as well deserved following an exceptional year for the Super Falcons. The team delivered a dominant and resilient AFCON campaign, going unbeaten throughout the tournament and keeping four clean sheets on their way to lifting the trophy for a record-extending tenth Africa Cup of Nations title.

One of the standout moments of their championship run came in the final, where the Falcons demonstrated remarkable determination coming from two goals down to secure a dramatic and memorable victory. Their triumph not only reaffirmed Nigeria’s long standing legacy in African women’s football but also showcased the team’s depth, unity, and tactical discipline.

Beyond their AFCON success, the Super Falcons continued their impressive form in the qualifiers for next year’s continental edition. They sealed their place with a 3–1 aggregate win over Benin, further underlining their dominance in the region and their consistency on the international stage.

Representing the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), President Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau attended the CAF Awards ceremony on Wednesday, 19 November, to receive the honour on behalf of the team. His presence underscored the significance of the achievement and the pride it brings to Nigerian football.

The award serves as a testament to the Falcons’ excellence, resilience, and enduring status as the powerhouse of African women’s football.
