Ghizlane Chebbak Wins CAF Women’s Player Of The Year Ahead Of Ajibade

Ghizlane Chebbak has been crowned the CAF Women’s Player of the Year, edging out Nigerian star Rasheedat Ajibade in a tightly contested race for the continent’s top individual honour. Chebbak’s victory marks a historic moment, as she becomes the first Moroccan woman ever to win the prestigious award.

The Moroccan midfielder delivered a brilliant year for both club and country. She played a key role in leading Morocco to the final of the Africa Cup of Nations, where they narrowly lost 3–2 to Ajibade’s Nigeria. Despite the defeat, Chebbak’s outstanding performances throughout the tournament earned her the Golden Boot, further solidifying her reputation as one of Africa’s most influential players.

Although Chebbak’s triumph is widely applauded, many expected Rasheedat Ajibade to claim the award following an exceptional year. The Nigerian forward enjoyed a standout season with Atlético Madrid Femenino before securing a high-profile move to Paris Saint-Germain. As captain of the Super Falcons, she led Nigeria to their tenth WAFCON title, delivering match-winning performances and being named Player of the Tournament.
