Fiston Mayele Wins CAF Inter-Club Player Of The Year

Fiston Mayele has been named the CAF Inter-Club Player of the Year, becoming the first DR Congo player in eleven years to claim the prestigious honour. The Pyramids FC forward enjoyed a phenomenal season, delivering standout performances across multiple competitions for both club and country.

Mayele was a central figure in Pyramids’ historic CAF Champions League triumph. He played a decisive role throughout the competition, helping the Egyptian side overcome Orlando Pirates in the semifinals and defeating Mamelodi Sundowns in the final. His contributions earned him the Golden Boot, highlighting his status as the tournament’s most lethal attacker.

His sensational form continued on the international club stage as he guided Pyramids to victory in the FIFA African Asian Pacific Cup, where he scored a remarkable hat-trick in the final against Al Ahli. For his dominant performance, Mayele was named Man of the Match. He then completed a remarkable treble by helping Pyramids lift the CAF Super Cup, scoring the decisive goal in their 1–0 win over RS Berkane.

Beyond club success, Mayele also made a significant impact for the DR Congo national team. He featured in the squad that defeated Nigeria in the CAF FIFA World Cup Playoffs Final, converting his penalty during the shootout to help the Leopards advance to the FIFA Intercontinental World Cup Qualifiers Playoffs.
