Odumeru Ameerah Adefowope joined Lagos State University’s nursing program in 2018 but deferred four semesters after her 2022 Hodgkin lymphoma diagnosis.
She underwent a bone marrow transplant in May 2023, returned to school that September, and graduated in 2025 with first-class honors in Bachelor of Nursing Science.
She had solicited for fund on X in 2023 to raise the fund of ‘23million naira [#22,975,000] for an urgent allogeneic stem cell transplant ‘ while revealing that she was ‘diagnosed of Hodgkin lymphoma in march 2022.
Ameera also topped her professional set, earning the Award of Excellence, with her sister sharing the inspiring before-and-after photos that went viral on X, as X users marveled at how she was able to beat cancer and came out stronger than before, congratulating her feat.
