Xabi Alonso Hails Mbappé and Team Spirit as Real Madrid Rout Olympiacos 4–1

Real Madrid returned to winning ways in the UEFA Champions League with a commanding 4–1 victory over Olympiacos in game week five, courtesy of a sensational four-goal haul from Kylian Mbappé. The French superstar’s performance not only secured all three points but also reaffirmed his status as the cornerstone of Los Blancos’ attack.

After the match, head coach Xabi Alonso showered praise on Mbappé, highlighting the striker’s influence both on and off the pitch: “Mbappé is very important. Of course, scoring is so important but his personality, his leadership, his weight in the dressing room.

“Goals are, of course, the most important thing, but his leadership qualities and daily influence on the team are intangible. This is fundamental to building the team, its cohesion and unity. And scoring goals is his natural talent.”

Alonso also commended the collective effort of his squad, emphasizing the resilience and unity that allowed them to turn the match around after a slow start:“Today we had the spirit, sacrifice, and team unity necessary to turn the situation around.

“This was a very important win, especially considering we didn’t win our last three games … we started badly, we were in a bad situation, but we showed resilience and unity, and all together we turned it around.

“First, I want to highlight the most important thing: the three points … Ending the bad streak was very important.

“We had tranquility, confidence and maturity to not lose our heads and comfortably turn things around.

“We need to improve in everything. Hold when the opponent presses and stay more together.”

The win propels Real Madrid forward in the Champions League while boosting morale ahead of their domestic fixture against Girona on 30th November.
