Africa’s richest man and Chairman of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote with a fortune between $23.9 billion and $30 billion, called on fellow elites in Nigeria to swap spending on luxuries for local factories that create jobs.
“Instead of buying jets and Rolls-Royce, you could use it to establish companies/create jobs in your community. Whenever I go to the airport, I can hardly find space to land my jet, everyone is buys jets instead of investing in job creation.” He pointed out
He pointed to the country’s 8.7 million annual births and high youth unemployment as urgent reasons to industrialize at home, rather than rely on foreigners.
Dangote’s own group employs over 30,000 in cement, sugar, and refining, setting an example amid debates over elite priorities and national needs.
