Calvin Bassey and Samuel Chukwueze delivered standout performances as Fulham secured a hard-fought 3–2 victory over Burnley, with several Nigerian stars leaving their mark before heading off for international duty.
Fulham’s goals came from Emile Smith Rowe, Calvin Bassey, and Harry Wilson, while Burnley responded through Lesley Ugochukwu and Oliver Sonne in an entertaining encounter.
Bassey was exceptional at both ends of the pitch. The defender completed 50 passes, including eight into the final third, and recorded a perfect 100% success rate in both dribbles and long balls. Defensively, he was equally commanding, registering five tackles, four clearances, one block, and nine ball recoveries. He also won an impressive 14 duels overall, underlining his dominance throughout the match.
Samuel Chukwueze also enjoyed a strong outing, completing 30 passes and creating the match-winning chance. Beyond his attacking contribution, the winger showed notable defensive commitment, finishing with three clearances, one interception, and five ball recoveries.
Alex Iwobi put in a solid performance as well, completing 40 passes, seven of which found their way into the final third. He also contributed defensively with two interceptions and six ball recoveries.
However, Fulham will soon be without Bassey, Chukwueze, and Iwobi, as all three are expected to link up with the Nigerian national team ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), ruling them out for a period as international duties beckon.
