The Super Eagles will travel to Marrakech this afternoon to continue preparations for their Saturday quarter-final clash against Algeria, following the resolution of a bonus payment dispute.
On Thursday, August 7, the team had initially decided not to travel due to unpaid match bonuses from four previous fixtures against Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda, and Mozambique. The situation had left many Nigerian football fans disappointed, especially after the team’s flawless record in the group stage, winning all four games to reach the quarter-finals.
An official from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) had previously confirmed that the payments were in progress:
“The monies have been processed from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to individual banks. The players and officials will receive all their bonuses once the process is completed,” the official told Oganla Media.
Despite the uncertainty, the Super Eagles trained in Fez on Thursday, maintaining focus ahead of the crucial match.
The matter has now been fully resolved, with the Nigerian Ministry of Finance confirming that all bonuses for the national team have been paid. The squad will arrive in Marrakech this afternoon to continue their preparations ahead of the Algeria clash.
