Manchester United Appoints Michael Carrick As Caretaker Manager

Michael Carrick has been appointed as Manchester United’s caretaker manager until the end of the season. A verbal agreement was reached yesterday, with all final details now completed, including arrangements for his backroom staff.

Carrick is no stranger to the Old Trafford dugout. He previously served as Manchester United’s caretaker manager during a brief three-match spell in November and December 2021. His deep connection with the club runs far deeper, having enjoyed a distinguished playing career at United.

As a player, Carrick spent 12 years at Manchester United between 2006 and 2018. Operating primarily as a defensive midfielder, and occasionally as a centre-back, he made 464 appearances across all competitions, scoring 24 goals and providing 40 assists. He was a key figure during one of the club’s most successful eras.

Manchester United currently sit 7th in the Premier League, three points off the Champions League qualification places. INEOS will be hoping Carrick can steady the team, improve performances, and guide the club back into the top four before the season concludes.
