Spanish club Girona are close to finalising a loan deal for German goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen. The 31-year-old has reportedly agreed to the move, but details with Barcelona still need to be finalised, with Girona hopeful of completing the deal next week.
Ter Stegen has had limited action this season, featuring in only one match in all competitions after losing his place to Joan García. Last season, he played just eight games due to injury and competition from Wojciech Szczęsny.
It will be a loan deal until the end of the season. The loan would offer Ter Stegen a chance to regain regular playing time ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup to increase his chance of playing for Germany and provide Girona with an experienced goalkeeper for the remainder of the season.
