Nicolas Jackson Set To Return To Chelsea At The End Of The Season

Nicolas Jackson is expected to return to Chelsea this summer following the end of his loan spell at Bayern Munich. The German club are not satisfied with the striker’s performances and do not intend to make the move permanent.

Bayern Munich paid an initial loan fee of €16.5 million to sign Jackson last summer. The deal included a mandatory appearance-based obligation clause that would have forced Bayern to sign him permanently if certain conditions were met.

Under the terms of the agreement, Bayern would have been legally required to complete a permanent transfer if Jackson started 40 matches across the Bundesliga and UEFA Champions League. A match would count toward this total if Jackson either started the game or played at least 45 minutes.

Jackson has not come close to meeting that requirement. In the Bundesliga, he has featured in 14 of 21 matches, starting only five times. In the UEFA Champions League, he has played six matches, starting just two.

With the appearance threshold now out of reach, Bayern are no longer obligated to sign Jackson permanently. The club is now exploring alternative options to bring in a new backup striker for Harry Kane ahead of next season, while Jackson prepares to return to Chelsea.
