UEFA has issued a statement regarding the incidents that occurred during last night’s clash between Benfica and Real Madrid.
“The official reports from the matches played last night are currently being reviewed. Where matters are reported, proceedings are opened and should they lead to disciplinary sanctions being imposed, they are announced on the UEFA disciplinary website,” the statement read.
“We have no further information to provide you or any further comment to make on this matter at this stage,” UEFA added, signaling that any potential actions will follow the conclusion of the ongoing review process.
The announcement comes in the wake of allegations that Vinícius Júnior was racially abused during the match, raising questions about enforcement of anti-racism protocols in European football.
