Between wanting to curb vote buying by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and reduce inflation, with the newly redesigned Naira note, Nigeria citizens has been caught in the fracas, as getting cas from financial institutions is proving tedious.
The apex bank has initially given 31st of January for the deadline of the old Naira swap, but had to extend it till February 10th, as there had been complaint from different quarters that there are people yet to change the money and financial institution’s Automated Teller Machine (ATM) has refused to dispense the new notes.
There has been outcries as banks are unable to give their customers cash, the queue in various banks are alarming, this has thus far caused an artificial inflation and famine in the country.
This had resulted in a peaceful protest organised by the Coalition of Civil Society Groups, Lagos, against banks sabotage and hoarding of the new notes.
