President Zelenskyy: “Report by the Chief of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine, Oleh Ivashchenko. We are conducting a detailed analysis of the available data regarding the intentions of the Russian leadership to exploit the situation around Iran and the possible prolongation of the American military operation.

“In fact, this is currently Russia’s main calculation – to increase the risks of a prolonged war in the Middle East and the Gulf region in order to weaken as much as possible the world’s pressure on Russia over its war against Ukraine, have partners’ sanctions lifted, and gain additional resources due to fluctuations in oil and gas prices. We have information that the Russians intend to speak about the complete waiving of sanctions on the energy sector. We are determining our countermeasures and will inform our partners.

“I instructed the intelligence service to step up its work regarding Russian military production – we must continue to limit the potential of Russian aggression despite the geopolitical challenges around the world.

“Our intelligence has obtained important documents regarding Russia’s own assessment of its losses on the battlefield. In particular, a change has been recorded in the killed-to-wounded ratio among Russian forces: out of 100 percent of losses, 62 percent are killed and 38 percent wounded. In their classified official reports, the Russians themselves estimate their irrecoverable losses at 1 million 315 thousand killed and seriously wounded. We have reason to believe that these figures are understated.
