Borussia Dortmund Appoint Nils-Ole Book As Sporting Director Until 2029

Borussia Dortmund have officially confirmed the appointment of Nils-Ole Book as their new sporting director, with the 40-year-old signing a long-term contract running until 2029.

Book arrives from SV Elversberg, where he had been serving in a key executive role and gained recognition for his strategic work and rapid rise within football management circles.

The Bundesliga giants see Book as part of a new-generation leadership structure aimed at shaping the club’s long-term sporting direction.

Borussia Dortmund board spokesperson Carsten Cramer welcomed the appointment, highlighting Book’s ambition and alignment with the club’s philosophy:

“We are delighted to have appointed Ole Book as our new sporting director. Although he is still young, he already has a wealth of experience in the industry.”

“During our discussions, we quickly realised that Ole possesses an immense hunger for success, high ambitions and a tremendous team spirit. This aligns with our values and what we aim to embody at Borussia Dortmund.”

“Now it is a matter of shaping the future of our club with courage and success. That is what drives us.”

Book also expressed his excitement at joining one of Europe’s elite clubs, underlining both his professional ambitions and personal connection to Dortmund:

“Borussia Dortmund is one of the biggest clubs in Europe and I am very much looking forward to giving my all to the club. I want to play my part in steering BVB towards a successful future and am delighted to be able to contribute my ideas and convictions”

“and to work alongside a strong team. Borussia Dortmund is a special club for me, one with which I have had an emotional connection since childhood.”

“It is not only for this reason that I would like to thank SV Elversberg, and above all Dominik Holzer, for enabling me to start my work in Dortmund straight away.”

Dortmund’s decision to appoint Book reflects a broader strategy to inject fresh ideas into their sporting structure, as the club continues to compete domestically in the Bundesliga and on the European stage.
