Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif: “Today, I am speaking to you at a historic moment, a moment when, by the grace and mercy of Almighty Allah, discussions of peace rather than war are taking place here.

“The two parties who were facing each other in battle just yesterday, and the region was on the brink of devastation, have today—Alhamdulillah—agreed to resolve their matters through dialogue.

“On this extremely important development, I extend my heartfelt thanks to the leadership of our brotherly country Iran and the United States, who, by accepting my proposal, not only agreed to a temporary ceasefire but, in response to my sincere invitation, the leadership of both countries is arriving in Islamabad, where negotiations will take place to establish peace.

“Almighty Allah has bestowed upon Pakistan the honor of hosting, which is not just a moment of pride for Pakistan but for the entire Muslim world as well—and for which we can never express enough gratitude to the Lord of Majesty and Glory.”
