Carlos Alcaraz has been named the 2026 Laureus World Sportsman of the Year following a dominant run across the 2025 season and into 2026, further cementing his status as one of the leading figures in modern tennis.
Alcaraz’s award comes after a remarkable 2025 campaign in which he established himself at the very top of the sport. He finished the season as ATP world No. 1 for the second time in his career and collected eight titles overall, including three Masters 1000 trophies in Monte-Carlo, Rome, and Cincinnati. He also made history by becoming the first player to win ATP 500 titles on all three surfaces clay, grass, and hard court in a single season. The Spaniard ended the year with a standout 71–9 win-loss record.
His success has continued into 2026, where he has maintained elite form. He began the year by winning his first Australian Open title on February 1, 2026, defeating Novak Djokovic in the final. That victory saw him complete a career Grand Slam, making him the youngest male player in history to achieve the milestone at 22 years and 272 days.
Alcaraz also extended his strong start to the season by winning the ATP 500 event in Doha, securing the 26th title of his career, and opening the year with a perfect 12–0 record through February.
The Laureus award reflects his sustained excellence, consistency, and ability to deliver on the biggest stages across multiple seasons, marking another major achievement in a rapidly growing legacy.
