“Andrada will no longer play for Real Zaragoza🇪🇸; the club will analyze terminating the contract with just cause due to his unsportsmanlike conduct.” Marcelo Bee Sellares Argentine lawyer specializing in sports and administrative law, wrote in a statement on X
Real Zaragoza goalkeeper Esteban Andrada faces a long ban for punching a Huesca player in the face, having already been sent off in a match in Spain’s second tier on Sunday.
The Argentina international, 35, pushed over Jorge Pulido and was dismissed for the incident, and then became enraged, running to hit Pulido and sparking a brawl on the pitch in stoppage time of the derby clash.
Huesca goalkeeper Dani Jimenez and Zaragoza’s Dani Tasende were also sent off in the aftermath, with hosts Huesca holding on for a 1-0 win.
Zaragoza’s statement on its official website, writes “Gazeta Express”.
“In the final moments of the SD Huesca – Real Zaragoza match, held this Sunday at ‘El Alcoraz’, we were the protagonists of some scenes that were inappropriate for this sport and that should never have happened.
“These actions do not represent the values of Real Zaragoza nor of our fans, who throughout history have been characterized by nobility, courage and respect for the opponent.
“We are an example and reference for many fans, especially children, who support us in every match and dream of one day becoming like their idols. Therefore, these shameful scenes should never have happened.
“The club strongly condemns what happened in that action, which has unacceptably tarnished a football match of particular importance for our region. This is unacceptable. As for our player Esteban Andrada, the club will analyze the incident and take the appropriate disciplinary measures.”
