Chelsea winger Cole Palmer has been named the PFA (Professional Football Association) young player for 2023/24 season on the 20th of August 2024.
His first season at Stamford Bridge was an undeniable success, the 22-year-old player scoring 25 goals with 15 assists in his 45 games in all competitions, following his move from Manchester City.
With 22 goals and 11 assists in 33 Premier League games, Palmer’s goal contribution of more than one per league game (79.3 minutes) meant he was recognized with a string of personal honors: Chelsea Player of the Year voted for by the fans, the Players’ Player of the Year Award, the Premier League’s Young Player of the Season and the PFA Premier League Fans’ Player of the Year
The versatile attacker made his mark not just in Chelsea.
He earned a much deserved maiden England call-up in November 2023, having helped his country lift the Under-21 Euros the previous summer, and came off the bench in five of England’s seven Euro 2024 games, scoring in the 2-1 defeat to Spain in the final.
The exceptional player was one of six shortlisted for Men’s 2023/24 PFA Young Player of the Year award, beating Manchester United duo Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo, former Chelsea academy player Michael Olise, João Pedro of Brighton and Hove Albion and Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka. He was also nominated for the PFA Players’ Player of the Year, which was won by Manchester City’s Phil Foden.
