FC Barcelona are closely monitoring João Pedro of Chelsea FC as a potential striker option if they fail to secure a deal for Julián Álvarez this summer.

Barcelona’s sporting director Deco is understood to be a long-time admirer of João Pedro and previously attempted to sign the Brazilian forward in 2024 during his time at Brighton & Hove Albion.

Deco remains keen on bringing the striker to Camp Nou and views him as the primary backup option should the pursuit of Álvarez fail to materialize. The club is continuing to assess multiple attacking options as part of its summer recruitment strategy.

At this stage, João Pedro’s stance on a potential move to Barcelona remains unclear, with no indication yet on whether he would be open to the transfer.
