Members of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) have unanimously endorsed Gianni Infantino for re-election as President of FIFA for the 2027–2031 term.
The decision was taken in Vancouver ahead of the 76th FIFA Congress, where football leaders from across the world are gathering to discuss governance, development, and the future direction of the sport.
CAF’s unanimous support reflects continued backing for Infantino’s leadership among African football associations, many of which have been key stakeholders in FIFA’s global development programmes over recent years. The endorsement also strengthens his position heading into the next election cycle, where he is widely expected to seek another term.
Infantino, who has led FIFA since 2016, has overseen several structural and commercial reforms within world football’s governing body, including expanded global competitions and increased investment in football development across member associations.
CAF’s decision is seen as a significant political signal within FIFA’s electoral landscape, given Africa’s 54 member associations and their collective influence in presidential voting processes. The endorsement adds momentum ahead of formal election proceedings scheduled for the coming years.
